Why would a guy as talented as Lagbaja (Nigerian artist performing in DC, August 4th. Click here for details) choose to remain faceless? ALL the time?

because the average nigerian still doesn't have food on the table... 'paraphrasing lagbaja himself'

I guess it's a silent protest really. And I would imagine he's asked about it all the time so it gives him an opportunity to speak up about what is really going on in Nigeria. BTW...I've seen his face, on a regular day. But I wouldn't have known it was him if we weren't introduced. It was a few years ago though.

@adure: his thoughts exactly.

@ ms. may: what an incredible way to talk about nigeria. i met him too...but didn't know it was him. and i helped put the concert together. lol.

p.s., it was funny how some people at the afterparty met a tall guy, with a raspy voice, and thought he was lagbaja. lol. i didn't have the heart to say that tall guy is a cousin of my friend.

I guess it is interesting to have your 'normal' life and then get an adrenaline rush from being someone else....The whole idea can keep one grounded if you what I mean....Today I'm me and tommorow I'm a celebrity.Almost like he doesn't want to take the credit for it. I think its a selfless act. My question is, do his friends know he is him and lagbaja?
